The Town Oliva is located in the Spanish region of Valencia on the Costa del Azahar at the northern edge of the Costa Blanca.
Oliva town is rich in history and culture. The Iberians and te Moors all left remains in the town. The original section of Oliva has the narrow Moorish back streets and there are a number of museums, churches and monuments. There is a beautiful late gothic church which was originally built in honour of the patron saint St Catalina. The town is surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and plantations of oranges and almonds. The archaeological museum has exhibits from prehistory to the 16th century and displays items from Iberians, Romans and Moors. Above the town is the tower of Santa Ana which is illuminated at night.
The new town boasts a number of modern shops and boutiques and includes two large supermarkets with fresh fish counters. Every Friday there is a farmers market which brings fresh fruit and vegetables as well as olives, meats, nuts and cheese to the town.
Beaches Pau Pi beach is a blue flag beach 1km from the town centre. It has fine golden sand and calm waters. Based around the beach are a number of restaurants and the beach is well equipped for people with low mobility. Burguera Beach is on the northern outskirts of Oliva. Once again it is a blue flag beach with fine golden sand. The nautical club is based at Burguera Beach and there are attractive dunes for walking with Mediterranean vegetation. This is an excellent location for windsurfing. Restaurants There are a variety of restaurants within a short drive of the villa. There is an English speaking taxi service available for those who wish to enjoy the inexpensive wine and beer on offer. Details of the taxi service and restaurants are all available in the villa.
